Rookery Building Revamp

In our class of Urban Planning we took a dive into electricity, its properties, and how its worked into a building. We were taught all on currents, different kinds of circuits and the history of where our power grids come from. After taking a trip to see a few forward thinking design firms such as Whitney Architects and DIRTT we took a tour of downtown Chicago pointing out some buildings that we thought would be interesting to retrofit. Retrofitting is where new technology and features are added to older buildings that didn't have them before. For this assignment we took a building, researched up on its history and outlined some solutions that could be incorporated into the building to make it that much more efficient. For my research I chose the Rookery Building, all details and information can be found in the slideshow below.

I did very much enjoy getting to learn about the Rookery building again, its design is one that stands out from the other business buildings and skyscrapers with its colorful red brick and hollowed out shape. If I had to do any of it over I would probably try and include more on the buildings energy and where it comes from I wasn´t able to find much only the projects that had been done with it to reduce its energy consumption.
