Stories Fable AP

In stories we have lately been learning about fables and different story types and what the definition of a fable is. For this assignment we were assigned to make our own fable with our own message to tell its audience. The theme i chose for my fable is inclusivity and awareness especially in a school setting. I did have some struggles finding just the right way to tell this story but i do hope you enjoy the story of Rufus the bear cub.

Fable

In the very center of a huge forest lie a school for children of all species to come learn their times tables and ABCs.  Rufus, a little bear who was just starting his first day of grade school, was nervous to introduce himself to his new classmates. He made sure to wear his best sweater, and pack all of his things inside his new shoulder bag. He stepped out of the hallway and into the classroom, as little animals of all species got quiet as they saw his face. "Everyone please welcome Rufus who will be starting at our school today" said Miss Monkey as she gestured towards Rufus. Everyone immediately went back to talking amongst themselves and doing what they were before. As he quietly sat down to his new desk he could feel kicking from the chair. He quickly turned around and saw another brown bear saying¨Hey, weirdo, whats up. Hey weirdo i'm talking to you.¨ Rufus spent the rest of the day trying his best to ignore the mean remarks being made by the other bears, but he could still hear the whispers even when he went to bed that night. The next day he was walking through the halls when the little bear boys caught him off guard and knocked him to his knees. Across the hallway a bunny classmate of his was watching the whole thing. Nervously walking over and picking up the books as Rufus decides to say nothing except ¨thank you¨ when being handed the books, and then storming off to the classroom feeling completely embarrassed of what just happened. The bunny classmate now has a feeling that Rufus really is different from the other bears, becoming confused on why exactly he's bullied because of how kind he seemed. The day goes on and not much happens except the occasional tease from the other bears. The next day the bears hatched a plan to pull a prank on Rufus. When lunch time came they stopped him at his locker and forced him to hand over his lunch, when they had it they immediately ran out the doors and out of sight. Rufus slowly walked out the doors where the playground was. At first he was so confused about what the bullies had done with his food, only then realising that they were snickering to themselves, looking at him, and then looking at the trashcan by the monkeybars in a repeated loop. So solemnly he walked to his spot under the tree in shame trying not to hold back his tears. As he held his face in his palms he heard someone walk over and stop in front of him. He looked up and saw none other than the rabbit who had helped him with his books the day before. Her name was Melanie and was wondering if she could sit with Rufus for lunch. Rufus happily obliged as she sat down next to him and started opening her packed lunch full of fried rice and different vegetables. She anxiously asked if he wanted a rice ball and he happily answered yes. As they started talking about books they both like and laughing with each other more and more of his classmates came over and started eating and talking to each other as one big community; and within the last ten minutes of lunch time every student had come to sit at the bench under the tree so that all who was sat separate where the same three bears who threw his lunch out in the first place. The day ends as Rufus walks home with the biggest smile on his face and immediately tells his parents of the miracle that happened. The family comes in for a big group hug as the parents now are confident that their cub has found a place where he belongs.
